Memories will be made and past ones honored

Lori D. Mulligan, Sr. Director of Development, Marketing & Community Services, Gilchrist Hospice Care

Sadly, Gilchrist Hospice Care lost three of its most ardent supporters over the past year and a half, Pat and Art Modell and Bill Pitcher.  These three individuals were devoted advocates of Gilchrist and the founding Chairs of the Holly Ball, so it only seems fitting that this year’s Holly Ball be held in their memory.  It also is only fitting that this year’s proceeds have been earmarked for Gilchrist Kids, a program that they all felt passionate about, especially Pat.  Connie Pitcher and the Modell Family, Michele, David and John will serve as Chairs of this event, which we expect will, once again, be the highlight of the holiday season.

Launched in July 2010, Gilchrist Kids was created to expand access to end of life care and services to this very fragile population – terminally ill infants, children and teens and their overburdened and emotionally drained loved ones.  Through the care and attention of a team of professionals, as well as specially trained volunteers, Gilchrist Kids aims to help children “live well” during their final months, weeks, and days and provide their loved ones with the support they need during this most difficult time.  To date, we have provided care to over 50 children and many more of their loved ones.

The Holly Ball will be held on Friday, December 14, 2012 at the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront and as always, it promises to be a magical dinner and dancing to the music of the Michael Carney Orchestra.

I would like to thank all those throughout our community who so generously support this event.  For more information on either the Holly Ball or Gilchrist Kids, please feel free to contact me at 443-849-8214 or lmulligan@gilchristhospice.org.
